TPMS sensor mystery replacement tips

So this new light appears on the dash and you look it up to find out it is related to your tyres. First thing to do is check all your tyre pressures and make sure that they are all normal. Secondly make sure the spare wheel is also checked as some times they are also fitted with TPMS sensors. Then your vehicle should indicate which tyre is faulty. Now as these batteries only last for approx five years even if not used, it could just be a flat TPMS sensor battery. So just buy a new universal sensor and just change it. Not that simple at all as firstly you could clone this little guy but if the sensor is not working no ID can be retrieved. Yes you need the old sensor’s ID to clone and make the vehicle start to register this new sensor. So there are three main ways of doing this. Firstly just create a new ID and then re write it to the vehicle. Secondly just clone the old sensor if you can get it to read. Lastly use OBD plug and scan the vehicle and get the required ID to program a new valve. Then we have varies frequencies to consider depending on where we are in this world. America is generally 315 Mhz and Europe is 433 Mhz.

Checking the battery that runs this little guy is easy by holding a test unit next to a fully fitted wheel. The test equipment fires a signal to the sensor and it responds giving the temperature, pressure and battery condition. Operation takes a whopping 15 seconds per wheel and you then have the option to sell the customer a new sensor before it fails…

The show this year was represented by a lot of the diagnostic suppliers which made it interesting to see what new models are out and what new features most of the manufactures were concentrating on. Little or no EV new items were shown except the Autel had the new two single and 3 phase chargers for home for any of the Electric vehicle suppliers. Show was slow to start but ended up being busy as usual. Funny not to see any of the big manufactures like Bosch and the sorts absent. We saw new suppliers for technical information and also found injector cleaners that can do the new FSI or GDI direct injection. Just pricing needs to be finalized. So yes it was interesting and fun was had by all. Hydrogen carbon cleaning is the new buzz word and the units were at the show. Interesting how just the introduction of the gas can clean a lot of the carbon off. EGR valves are to be blamed for the impacting of carbon and most small engines are now direct fuel injection.

The show was a hit and hoped everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks to the hospitality of the Pipemakers group or more commonly known as Nation Workshop Equipment, Autobooks – Haynes pro, Autel and Autosupply and Thinkcar for letting us roam their stands and let us gather info.

Autocom Software Expired.

Invalid license = access denied

It cannot be stressed enough. Keeping a valid license for your Autocom diagnostic software is very important. Invalid licenses on CARS and/or TRUCKS will mean that you lose access to several important functions in the software. The result for the workshop will mean losing valuable time, losing the ability to work with many vehicles and losing many functions that make the work smoother and easier.

Examples; Invalid licenses will not have access to scan vehicles automatically. Systems will be needed to be chosen one by one, manually. ICON users will lose access to Secure Gateway. This means not being able to do service on many newer vehicles from Audi, Volkswagen, Škoda, Seat, Mercedes, Fiat and more. A huge blow to every multibrand workshop.

The loss of time and the loss of jobs is way more expensive for the workshop than the cost of the software license.
